For New Zealand Beekeepers Autumn is the best time of the year to get the highest level of mating success for Queen Bees. There are two main factors that influence this: 1. Acceptable weather 2. Sexually mature drone availability.
Beaut Bees AI Genetic Improvement Program is underway! We have made excellent progress this season and have produced many beautiful Artificially Inseminated Queens. They are of exceptionally high quality and are brilliant layers with superb brood patterns.
As we all know the Queen Bee is the ‘Heart of the Hive’. The Queen in all her natural beauty and characteristics creates the temperament, production, balance and performance of the colony.
The Queen Bee, the most valuable and important bee; the producer of bees.
Edoardo Canal, Ed Bee, Kawau islandI get lots of virgin queens from Beaut Bees as it saves time, allows for flexibility and costs little. I prefer the virgins as I get between 85 to 95 percent mated nucs and a laying queen 3 to 5 days earlier than a cell. The queens from Beaut Bees are big and great layers and service is responsive and friendly.
Jonathan Lee, ThamesThis was our first season using Beaut Bees virgin caged queens. Prompt communication and delivery. We found these queens a good and cost eective way to re-queen our hives. Definitely will be using them next season.
Paul Goodyear, Warkworth Very happy with my virgin bees from Beaut Bees, first time I’ve used them and will definitely be buying more this season thanks.
Gary Hendriks, MatamataAwesome service and healthy strong queens… the result = stronger hives.
Myles Cookson, ClevedonI was told that virgin queens was relatively new to New Zealand. At that time my only other option was raise my own queens with frames of eggs under an emergency impulse. So was only too happy to try virgin queens. In total over the season have brought 31 virgin queens and the number of fails I had was 2. Found Beaut Bees to be very helpful with good communication so no down time waiting. Looking forward to spring.
